From IRCAM - Pierre Boulez like Schoenberg, like Webern, and probably like most composers, has always been interested in the music of Johann Sebastien Bach. Each of his three works for small ensemble - Mémoriale, Dérive I and Messagesquisse - will be performed following an excerpt from Art of Fugue orchestrated by George Benjamin, Marc-André Dalbavie and Bruno Mantovani, congruous to the size of the ensemble. This dialogue between Bach and Boulez extending over centuries is also the opportunity to hear ...explosante-fixe..., Dialogue de l'ombre double and Anthèmes II. Echoing this concert series, the new edition of L'Étincelle #3, dater/faire date presents some of today's intrigues alongside those of the past as well as selected musical, esthetic, and historical configurations.
